Grades 4-12
Lowell was founded because of the water power available at the Pawtucket Falls. This program focuses on the connection between the power produced and the production that it made possible.
Activities include:
- Building and test water wheels and turbines.
- Designing and build a canal system.
- Tracing the manufacture of cotton cloth from power to production using interactive power train exhibits at Suffolk Mills.
- In fall and spring, a ride on a replica 1920s trolley.
- Visiting the Boott Cotton Mills Museum with its operating power looms.

Guided School Program Fees: $195
Programs may be reserved now for dates during the 2011-2012 school year by calling Lowell National Historical Park at 978-970-5000. Please see our curriculum pages for information about our curriculum packets with pre- and post-visit activities. The Tsongas Center has been approved for PASS Program funding support; contact your local cultural council.
