Workers on the Line


DescriptionWorkers on the Line Teachers

Grades 4-12

During the Industrial Revolution, the new factory workplace changed the nature of work and the relative power of workers and owners.

Activities include:

  1. Becoming workers on a textile printing assembly line
  2. Experiencing a loss of control as equipment is "speeded up"
  3. Reacting to wage cuts
  4. Investigating child labor, past and present
  5. Visiting the Boott Cotton Mills Museum with its operating power looms.

Scheduling and Reservations

Workers On The Line is offered September through June.

Guided School Program Fees: $195

Workers on the Line TeachersPrograms may be reserved now for dates during the 2011-2012 school year by calling Lowell National Historical Park at 978-970-5000. Please see our curriculum pages for information about our curriculum packets with pre- and post-visit activities. Tsongas Center has been approved for PASS Program funding support; contact your local cultural council.
