Invention Factories


"Engineer It!" is the new title for our program "fomerly called Invention Factories."

DescriptionInvention Factory Field Trip

Grades 3-12

Lowell led the way in engineering and mechanical innovation in early industrial America.  Engineers incorporated simple machines into systems that solved problems to make Lowell “work.”  

Students 

  • Use the engineering design process to solve a problem.
  • Investigate technology and materials used to solve real manufacturing problems in a 19th-century mill.
  • Explore the Moody Street Feeder Gate House to see how simple machines control water power in Lowell.
