Biosketch
Joel McCarthy joined the UMass Lowell community in January 2012 as the Director of Residence Life. Prior, Joel spent five years at Wells College as the Associate Dean of Students for Residence Life and Dean of Students, and seven years at Syracuse University as Graduate Assistant, Residence Director, Coordinator. Joel has worked in student affairs and residence life for over a decade and has a strong background in leadership development, training and diversity education. He has a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from Syracuse University and bachelor’s degrees in Graphic Design and Secondary Education, both from Bradley University. Joel’s favorite aspect of working at UMass Lowell is the opportunity to work and collaborate with thoughtful people.
