Conferences/Funding:
Each professional staff member in the Office of Residence Life has the opportunity to pursue professional development experiences. These experiences can include membership in a regional or national organization, attendance at a conference, participation at an institute and many other experiences offered for the field of student affairs. The general allocation of funds allows for each staff member to have:
- $1,000 for attendance at a national conference, or
- $600 for attendance at regional/drive-in conferences
These monetary guidelines allow each professional to pursue their personal interests and passions within the field. If a professional pursues an experience that is required for an office process or initiative, the cost of that experience will not come out of that professional’s $1,000-$600. Example: Attending NASPA Placement as part of the interview team.
In order to obtain approval for a professional development experience, each staff member must submit a “Request for Professional Development Funds Form.”
