Letter from Peter Saradjian

Peter Saradjian

As the peer minister of the Protestant Campus Ministry, I welcome you to UMass Lowell.

The college experience is a transforming process that allows you to search for your self-identity through interacting with other students in a diversified environment. It can also be a confusing time where issues that you have never had to face before suddenly confront you. Therefore, I was grateful for the Protestant service held every Sunday by Pastor Imogene Stulken. These services allowed me to take a break from my hectic schedule and reflect on the week's past events. The services consist of hymns and short Bible readings that we relate to our
contemporary experiences. The end of each service concludes with a social hour, complete with refreshments. This time is also used for community outreach such as making birthday and holiday cards for the elderly residents at the River Valley House in Lowell.

Finally, besides providing moral support and a time to relax, the Protestant services allow students to bring up issues on campus as well as help students with their daily needs, from finding a quiet place to study to securing a box lunch.

See you around,

Peter Saradjian, student peer minister
