HIV/AIDS Confidential Free Testing

There is a difference between confidential and anonymous testing. With anonymous testing your name is never associated with the test results. With confidential testing, your name is used, and you depend on your health care provider to maintain your confidentiality.

Anonymous free testing for HIV Infection is available through the Public Health Service. A pre-testing and a post-testing counseling session are both required as part of this service.

To arrange for testing in Lowell, call the Lowell Community Health Center located at 585 Merrimack Street at (508) 937-6045, and ask for an appointment for an HIV Antibody Test. Testing is available on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

To arrange for testing in Boston, call the AIDS Hotline at 1-800-750-2016.

For further information, or to discuss your concerns, call the Health Service (4991) or the Counseling Center (4331).
