Lowell: Urban Chic Around the Corner from Campus
Both Jack Kerouac, the father of the beat generation, and the American industrial revolution were born in Lowell. Kerouac put Lowell on the map for being "cool" and the city's former factory buildings have given it a distinctive architecture.
Today outdoor cafes, trendy lofts, and night clubs and restaurants catering to all musical and ethnic tastes populate downtown Lowell. In addition, a thriving arts scene, a world-class entertainment complex attracting top-name performers, and a National Park all contribute to the possibilities offered by this bustling city.
One city not enough? We're only 25 miles -- a 40-minutes train ride -- from Boston.
If you long for the smell of the ocean or the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, both are only an hour's drive away.
