Issues We Can Help With

Students often ask what issues they can get help with. We encourage students to come to us with any issue or difficulty that is causing them concern. All matters are appropriate to discuss with a counselor, including:

  • low self-esteem
  • self-defeating behaviors
  • adjusting to college
  • poor academic performance,
  • dealing with troublesome feelings, such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, shyness, fear and anger
  • losing your motivation for academics
  • managing time and/or stress
  • dealing with suicidal thoughts and concerns
  • food problems and eating disorders
  • dealing with sexual harassment, sexual assault or rape
  • dealing with previous emotional trauma
  • difficulties with alcohol and/or drugs
  • dealing with death and loss
  • relationship difficulties with family, friends or romantic partners
  • sexual concerns
  • gay, lesbian and bisexual issues
