About UsAbout the Counseling Center The University provides confidential mental health and counseling services free to all full-time degree-seeking students through the Counseling Center. Our staff is committed to assisting students with the wide variety of personal difficulties and concerns that can interfere with academic success and progress. When necessary, referrals for outside, specialized mental health services are also provided. There are some constraints on the number of visits available. There is a 12-session limit per academic year but most students are able to address their concerns adequately without extending these. In fact, the majority of students who use our services find that they are able to clarify their feelings, concerns and options in only a few meetings with a counselor. Location: McGauvran Student Center, UMass Lowell South Campus, Room 363 For after-hours emergencies, a counselor is on call through the University Communications Center at University Police: 978-934-2398. The staff of the Counseling Center are qualified, experienced professionals in the fields of psychology and mental health counseling. The office is also staffed by mental health and counseling graduate interns from training programs at universities in greater Boston and southern New Hampshire under the supervision of the permanent staff. John C. Pakstis, Ph.D. (Director) Elyse Lemaire, Ph.D. Rhoda Trietsch, M.Ed. (Associate Director) Linda Adoniou, LMHC (Alcohol/Drug Counselor) Kathi Chang (Administrative Assistant)
