Become a UCAN Mentor

When students are researching possible career paths, one of the best resources is our mentoring program through which they can connect with someone actually working in the profession they're considering, to give them "the real story" on a particular career or industry. You can help by joining our mentoring program -- a group of professionals, alumni, and friends who have agreed to share their insights about their fields, career choices, and paths.
How the UCAN Mentoring Program Works
Friends and alumni of the University who are interested in serving as a resource to students and other alumni provide us with basic information about their careers. We keep this information in a database managed by the Career Services & Cooperative Education Center and our online partner, Experience, Inc. Your information is accessible only to students and alumni who have registered through our office or our website. When a student decides to pursue an informational interview, he or she will send you a connection request through the UCAN mentoring database. You have the option to "Accept" to become connected or "Decline" any requests.
What You Can Expect as a UCAN Mentor
Students and alumni use the database to research possible career paths. They select volunteer mentors employed in fields of interest to them and then contact those individuals. Students are instructed to contact you for information only, not for a job. If you don't receive a connection request, don't be disappointed; your listing is still important.
