Alumni Guide to Career Services
We strive to provide services that help alumni build job search skills and facilitate positive interactions with employers.
Career Resources Alumni can easily find job search advice, links to recruiting employers and job search engines on our Web site. To fully access electronically posted opportunities for UML alumni, you must register online with the Office of Career Services.
To initialize your free online account, contact Career Services by phone or email. The system posts job opportunities from hundreds of employers across the nation. Posted opportunities include internships, co-ops and professional positions in a wide variety of industries, academic disciplines and functional areas. You may also choose to make your resume searchable by potential employers.
Career Search® Career Search® is available 24/7 to students and alumni who are registered with us. Users can research an industry database of more than a million companies by geographic location and keyword, as well as access salary information via the Salary Wizard.
Alumni Mentors Career Services maintains is a database of professionals, many of whom are UML alumni, who have volunteered to talk with alumni about their career interests and networking sources. Those interested in volunteering for this service are invited to email Martina Witts.
Recruiting Employers Program This series of services is designed to facilitate meetings between alumni and employers. To gain access to UMass Lowell's online recruiting system, contact Career Services.
Resume Referral Service Employers post job listings on the Career Services Web site through our Web-based on-campus recruiting system. You can search and review those job postings conveniently on our Web site. Whenever you find one of interest, you can easily point, click and choose the uploaded resume and letter of your choice. Interested employers will contact you directly.
On-Campus Recruiting Employers may request the opportunity to review resumes of our recently graduated alumni up to one year post-graduation. Using Career Services' Web-based recruiting system, alumni can self-refer their resume, learn whether they were selected for an interview and sign up for an interview time slot. Career Services hosts these employers in our offices for screening interviews.
Job Binders Employers often fax, mail, or email job opportunity descriptions directly to UML. We categorize these job opportunities by functional area and post them in binders in our office (200 Southwick Hall). Many of these postings may also appear on our Web site.
Career Resources A variety of career-related books, trade journals, directories and job-search handouts are available in Southwick 200. Videos in the office include helpful information for interviewing effectively, preparing for job fairs, networking and other job search skills.
Focus® Focus® is a career-exploration program that may help refine your career plans and match job opportunities to your skills and interests. It is available online, following a consultation with a Career Services career counselor.
Job Fairs and Career Events Job fairs and career events are designed to bring job seekers and employers together. Check out the Events on our Web site to learn the details of our next event.
