Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is campus accessible by public transportation?

    Yes.  In addition to the UML shuttle the LRTA (Lowell Regional Transit Authority) provides bus service to campus, originating at the Kennedy Bus Transfer Station at the Gallagher Intermodal Transportation Center.  The MBTA provides commuter rail service from Boston to Lowell, terminating at the Gallagher terminal where bus service to campus is accessible.
  2. Is transportation provided on weekends?

    There are no daytime buses on the weekends, however, the evening shuttle vans run from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., as they do on weeknights.
  3. What if I need a ride in the Inside the shuttle busparatransit van?

    If you are in need of our paratransit services, please contact Marie Gaine at x2596 or leave a message at x2222 and we will contact you with information on how to contact us whenever you need a ride.
  4. Can I be picked up at the train station?

    In the evening, the Escort Service goes to the Gallagher Train Station.  Please see Evening Shuttle Services for schedules and more information. LRTA buses provide service between the train station and campus during the day.
  5. Does campus transportation cost money?

    The shuttle service and evening shuttle are provided FREE of charge by the University. However, there is a charge for taking public buses (LRTA) and trains (MBTA).
  6. Where do I get the bus from the train station?

    To go to UML South, take bus 06 which leaves from bay A3; UML North is bus 07 which leaves from A1; and UML East, bus 09 leaves from B1.
