How do I recruit a co-op student?

UMass Lowell runs three cycles of its co-op program:

  • January – June
  • July – August
  • Summer Only (3 month)

The recruiting period for each cycle typically takes place during the 3-6 months prior to the start of co-op.  For more information on suggested recruiting timelines, view our document.

To start recruiting UMass Lowell co-op students, you can access our self-serve job posting and recruiting system, CareerLINK. Simply complete your company profile and submit a co-op job description. Typically within 2 business days your job will be available for students to apply to.

You can increase your visibility through special recruiting strategies like on-campus interview days, employer information sessions, company tours, and career fair attendance. We can consult with you on the best mix of recruiting strategies.

How can I recruit on-campus?

  • On-campus Interviews  
    UMass Lowell can assist you with scheduling an on-campus interview day. On-campus interview days are an effective and efficient way to recruit students. It simplifies the process of scheduling numerous interviews. In addition, interview days are given special promotion on campus, raising awareness of your company and job opportunities. 
  • Employer Information Sessions 
    Coming to campus for an employer information session can be a very effective way to promote your company and your job opportunities. Interested students become better educated about you making them stronger candidates. In addition, employer information sessions are given special promotions, raising awareness of your company.  
  • Co-op Connections Event  
    Our Co-op Connections event is a co-op only career fair, hosted at UMass Lowell each February.  It's a much smaller, intimate event designed to match co-op students with employers who are seeking undergraduate co-ops.  No booths, no lines, just round tables and opportunities to network.
  • Career Fairs 
    UMass Lowell hosts large career fairs every October and March. These UMass Lowell’s premier recruiting events attracting nearly 1000 students and alumni job seekers each year. Students and alumni are looking for full-time jobs and co-op opportunities.

How do I recruit an upcoming graduate?

The prime time to recruit an upcoming UMass Lowell graduate is during the spring and summer. To accommodate UMass Lowell’s co-op program, the majority of students graduate in August (compared to May at other schools).

How do I recruit alumni?

While you may not typically think of a college to support companies outside of college recruiting, UMass Lowell works with alumni of all levels and can help employers target active and passive candidates.

You can post a job using our self-service job posting and recruiting system, CareerLINK. However, you are encouraged to contact Career Services directly to talk about your experienced hiring needs. We can help you attract UMass Lowell alumni appropriate to your position’s level of experience.

How can I increase my brand at UMass Lowell?

UMass Lowell hosts several opportunities to connect with potential talent.  Mock Interview Events, Career panels, Workshops and Information Sessions all provide special topic discussions to help students become more informed your company and about issues impacting their career decision.
