Biosketch

Before working at UMass Lowell, Dana served as a career management consultant for Right Management, a global outplacement firm, teaching career classes and coaching laid off workers. She has also worked as a career counselor at Framingham State University, and as an academic counselor at Boston University and Middlesex Community College. Prior to her career in higher education, Dana worked in the communications field, as an editor in book publishing and as a feature writer in journalism. She has also worked in refugee resettlement. All of these varied career experiences have proved invaluable in counseling UMass Lowell students.

Areas of Expertise and Professional Interests

Danaís areas of expertise in higher education include providing career counseling to students, assisting with development, planning and implementation of career-related programs, and identifying and implementing strategies to brand and market programs and services to student, alums, faculty, staff and employers.  In counseling students, she employs her experience in career assessment administration and interpretation, career exploration, resume and cover letter preparation, and job/internship search strategies. Her overriding goal is to help students integrate their interests, personality preferences, skills and values in selecting and pursuing a career that is meaningful to them.
Specifically, Dana provides career counseling across all undergraduate and graduate majors and delivers standalone workshops and classroom presentations on a range of career topics.
