The University of Massachusetts Lowell Physics Department is proud to be hosting the joint spring meeting of the New England sections of the American Physical Society and the American Association of Physics Teachers.

The meeting will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8 at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center with sessions of invited speakers, followed by a session of contributed posters. The meeting banquet will follow in the evening.

The banquet speaker will be
Eric Mazur of Harvard University.

Olney_Hall

The Saturday program will commence with sessions of oral APS and AAPT contributed papers at 8:00 a.m. in the Olney Science Center on the UMass Lowell North Campus. The contributed paper sessions will be followed by a session of invited talks. The American Association of Physics Teachers will hold workshops on Saturday afternoon in the Olney Science Center.

Tours of the UMass Lowell research labs will also be conducted on Saturday afternoon.

The talks at this meeting are aimed at a general physics audience. Contributed talks and posters are welcome from all areas of physics and physics education.

In order to encourage student participation, student attendees will be reimbursed by APS up to $100 for registration, travel, accommodation and banquet expenses. Students who make oral or poster presentations will be reimbursed up to $200 for these expenses. Reimbursement forms will be available at the registration desk on the days of the meeting. Receipts for expenses must be submitted with the reimbursement form.
