Environmental, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences

Internships

Internships are a valuable experience in which students can make personal contacts and apply the knowledge they learn in the classroom. Students generally elect an internship experience in their junior or senior years.

Careers

Many graduates of the environmental science programs have work assignments in which they split their time between laboratories, offices and the out-of-doors. They have found employment, for example, with the Department of the Interior, the Division of Fish and Wildlife, W.R. Grace & Company,The Gillette Company, the Defense Mapping Agency, and numerous environmental consulting companies. Some atmospheric science graduates obtain forecasting jobs, but many work with governmental agencies, perform air pollution studies, or do research on the dynamics of the atmosphere.
