The Center was established at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School in the late '80s, and relocated to UMass Lowell in 1994.
We study normal cytoskeleton protein function, mostly neurofilaments, as related to development of the nervous system, and abnormal neuronal function, and factors that trigger this, as related to motor neuron disease and Alzheimer's disease. More recently, we have investigated the roles of nutrition and antioxidants in neuronal health and disease.
