Bio Sketch

Shai went to BIT, Mesra, India for his bachelor's in civil engineering after finishing his schooling in Nepal. He was then enrolled at Gifu University, Japan, where he obtained his master's and doctoral degrees. During his research in Japan, he acquired expertise in the simulation and optimization methods, as the use of Markov Chain Monte Carlo in Subset Simulation for the estimation of design points for Reliability Based Design (RBD). His present research focuses on the RBD of shallow foundations, and the development of the Resistance Factors and code calibration based on a comprehensive shallow foundation database.

His research topic for his post-doctoral work is "LRFD Design Specifications for Shallow Foundations."
