
Unarmed Robbery
4 April 2008
At approximately 10:00 PM on 4 April 2008 a UMass Student was robbed of personal items by two (2) Hispanic males on Pawtucket Street in the vicinity of LeLacheur Park. The victim was struck in the face by the assailants and was cleared by EMS; no weapon was shown. Please consider utilizing the shuttle service, escort service or walking with others while traversing between or on campus. The Lowell Police Department is investigating this matter and is being assisted by University Police. Please follow the recommendations below:
- Don't display valuables when walking.
- Maintain the appearance of confidence and walk purposefully.
- Do not talk on cell phones while walking.
- Maintain awareness of your surroundings and those around you. Cross street or walkway if you believe you’re being followed.
- Report any suspicious person(s) by calling the police at (978) 934 - 2911 or extension 2911 on campus.
- Program the above number into your cell phone.
- When in doubt call us.

At approximately 1:15 PM on 3 April 2008 a UMass Student was robbed at knife point on Pawtucket Street in the vicinity of Hydro-Electric Plant. He was unharmed after being accosted by a Caucasian male who brandished a knife. Please consider utilizing the shuttle service, escort service or walking with others while traversing between or on campus. The Lowell Police Department is investigating this matter and is being assisted by University Police. Please follow the recommendations below:
- Don't display valuables when walking.

Burglaries

The University and Greater Lowell community continue to be affected by these thefts and are being investigated by the University and Lowell Police. Please help us protect your personal property by adhering to the following:
- Secure your apartment, rooms and residences at all time, even if you are simply “Going down the hall.”
- Be aware of strangers on your floor, your residence hall or office and maintain awareness of your surroundings and those around you.
- Report any suspicious person(s) by calling the police at (978) 934 - 2911 or extension 2911 on campus.
- Be aware of ‘friends of friends’, they may not be what they seem.
- Keep all valuables out of sight from windowed offices and be sure to secure all windows and doors.
- Do not prop doors or allow others to ‘Tailgate’ into your residence hall. Get to know your neighbors and floor mates.
- If you have information that is relevant to these events, please contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 978 934 4212.

At approximately 1:00 AM on November 27, 2007 an individual was robbed at knife point on University Avenue in the vicinity of Gershom Ave. The victim was accosted by two (2) persons believed to be Hispanic males of medium build approximately 5’6” wearing black sweatshirts - one of whom brandished a knife. Please consider utilizing the shuttle service, escort service or walking with others while traversing between or on campus. The Lowell Police Department is investigating this matter.
