Parents, Family & Friends Orientation

Welcome to the UMass Lowell community!

We realize sending your student off to college is a big step and a big investment. We are here to support you-and your student-through this transition and to serve as a resource through commencement and beyond. The Parents, Family and Friends orientation program is designed to answer your questions and leave you feeling even more confident that UMass Lowell is a great choice for your student.

Our Parents, Family and Friends Orientation sessions will help you help your student make the most of their experience at UMass Lowell. You will learn about the broad range of academic support services, leadership opportunities, our expanding campus footprint, and the city of Lowell.

Each orientation includes a welcome from the Dean of Students, lunch with representatives from key offices, and the opportunity to see some of historic downtown Lowell. You will meet current students who will offer tips on how to navigate life as a new member of the UMass Lowell community.

Schedule

This summer we are offering you the opportunity to participate in our overnight parent orientation program so you can learn about and experience more of what UMass Lowell and the city of Lowell have to offer. In addition to the standard one-day program our overnight will include:

Accommodations at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center - a building your student might live in one day.
A parent barbecue with Chancellor Marty Meehan.
A river cruise guided by rangers from the Lowell National Historical Park
A dessert reception with key administrators

The overnight program offers you a unique opportunity to learn about UMass Lowell directly from our faculty and staff in a relaxed atmosphere.

Your overnight program is scheduled for Sunday, June 23 - Monday, June 24, 2013 until 5 p.m.

Once you register you will receive additional information regarding your reservation at the Inn and Conference Center.

If the overnight program does not fit your schedule please join us for a one day session on one of the following 2013 dates:

Thursday, June 13
Monday, June 17
Thursday, June 20
Monday, June 24
Thursday, July 11
Monday, July 15
Thursday, July 18

Please note: Parent, Family, and Friends Orientation is offered through the Office of Parent Programs, while freshman/transfer orientation is offered by the Office of Enrollment and Student Success. Freshmen and transfer students should register for orientation online. It is not required that you attend orientation the same day as your student.

Additional Information

Cost: The cost for the overnight program is $100 per person or $150 per couple and includes:

Overnight accommodations at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center
Parent Barbecue
River Cruise
Dessert and Wine reception
Standard one day orientation session on Monday, June 24

The cost to attend the one day program is $25 per person or $40 per couple and includes:

Attendance at all orientation sessions
Refreshment break in the morning
Lunch at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center
Transportation around campus
Optional Lowell National Historical Park tour of the city
