Post-Doctoral Opportunities

The Nanomanufacturing Center is always seeking qualified post-doctoral researchers. Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in engineering or the physical/biological sciences or related subjects, as well as a commitment to research. Candidates with strong skills in micro- and nanosystems, particularly in areas such as materials characterization, surface patterning, soft lithography, modeling (polymer physics, molecular dynamics, multi-scale, micro- and nano-fluidics), metrology and positioning, polymer processing, polymer synthesis, and biological systems for manufacturing, are encouraged to apply. Applicants are requested to send a letter stating research interests and a curriculum vitae to: nano@uml.edu

Graduate Student Opportunity

RA position available for Sc.D. or Ph.D. Student

Seeking motivated and hard-working student to be involved in NSF-Funded research.

Qualifications: BS and/or MS degree in industrial hygiene, cleaner production, environmental science or related discipline or BS and/or MS in Engineering with a strong interest in environmental health.  Research involves evaluating and controlling exposure of researchers to nanoparticles.  Must have strong math and physics skills and an ability to operate complex monitoring equipment in laboratories at UML, Northeastern and the University of New Hampshire. For more information and inquiries contact Prof. Ellenbecker at ellenbec@turi.org

There are other Ph.D. student positions available in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Work Environment for students who are interested in nanomanufacturing. Please contact chn@uml.edu.

UMass Lowell is located approximately 25 miles northwest of Boston, along the Merrimack River. In addition to leadership in the emerging areas of nanomanufacturing, the University has unique expertise in plastics and composites processing, polymer science, and health and environmental issues in manufacturing, along with a strong history of collaborative research with industry.
