Injection molded plastic parts are used in a number of medical applications where reduced microbial growth is highly desirable. Silver nanoparticles have demonstrated good anti-microbial properties, making them attractive as additives in plastic parts. The effect of injection molding process parameters on the antimicrobial performance of nanoparticulate silver filled polymers has not been investigated and is the focus of this work.
