ScD in Social Epidemiology from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA, 2007; MPH in Community Health Education from University of Massachusetts Amherst; BS in Health Science and Humanities, University of New England, Biddeford, Maine.

Scholarly Interests

Asst. Prof. Ackerson is interested in examining the broad influence of social, physical, and policy environments on health with the goal of alleviating social disparities in health.  His specific interests to date have included the health effects of psychosocial stress, health communication inequalities, and maternal and child health outcomes in India.

Bio Sketch

Asst. Prof. Ackerson has lived overseas as a health volunteer in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic and as a high school teacher of English as a second language in South Korea.  He currently lives in Malden with his wife, Mia, and sons, Benjamin and Jason.
