Minor in Mathematics

Register On-Line Below!

By taking 9 math credits beyond your departmental requirements, you can earn a Minor in Mathematics. Not only will the extra skills you learn serve you well in your science/engineering studies and eventually in your professional career, but a Math Minor also looks great to a potential employer!

Here are the specifics: You need a minimum of 18 credits of 92-prefix courses. This includes your department requirements (often calculus and differential equations) and at least 9 credits of optional courses. (See the list below for suggestions.)

Programming and pre-calculus courses cannot be included among the 18 credits. Also, at least 6 of the 18 credits must be 300-level or above. (But 92.222, Linear Algebra II, will count as a 300-level course.) If you would like some advice on choosing the optional courses, contact the Math Minor Advisor during his office hours, or by email:

Professor Kenneth Levasseur

When all requirements are completed or about to be completed, submit the Math Minor Application form below and an Academic Petition will be prepared for you.

Some Suggested Courses

Depending on your major, you might consider different courses, as indicated by the table below, but you are free to take any of these courses to satisfy the minor requirement for 300-level courses.
