“By providing access to the expertise and equipment needed by companies to fund, design, prototype and test their candidate medical devices, the M2D2 builds and strengthens medical device development and manufacturing activities in the state." Thomas J. Sommer |
M2D2 can help smaller firms convince venture capitalists that they too have marketable ideas and products. In fact, M2D2 can help develop viable products every step of the way, from proof-of-concept to commercialization. Tapping broad-based expertise in engineering and the conduct of clinical trials, M2D2 assists companies in meeting FDA standards for medical device design and controls, materials selection, material procurement and control, prototype development, process development and validation, cGMP Phase I manufacturing, sterile package design, process and testing, and all stages of medical device clinical trials.
Start-up companies turn ideas into products and help larger companies, as well. MassMEDIC is working hand-in-hand with M2D2 to ensure that the industry's need is met. The University of Massachusetts has created M2D2 specifically to help.
