The content management system (CMS) has empowered many users across campus to update their department's website using the web-based software instead of HTML. Here's what some of the users are saying.
Erin Crouse, director of orientation and coordinator of admissions events
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
It allows me to make quick changes and updates without having to spend a lot of time doing so. It makes the webpage feel more "live." Once I went through the training, I found it easy to use. I am not really a computer tech type of person, but I feel confident with Collage. It has allowed me to have more "ownership" of the webpage so that it looks the way my department wants, and it allows items to be up-to-date at all times.
Elaine Major, director of Institutional Compliance
Office of Institutional Compliance
The system was a bit challenging to learn but after continued work with it (and great assistance from the support staff!), I feel proficient at it now and like how easy to use it is to keep my site updated. I have direct control over the updates and, as things change frequently in the information that I need to have posted, I can get it updated almost immediately. As more and more people rely on websites for current information, it is critical that we have the most updated information available from a compliance perspective.
Mary Duell, visiting assistant professor
Department of Psychology
Serena Collage allows me easily to make updates to the Psychology Department's website without requiring that I have extensive knowledge of HTML or experience with web design. Not only are textual changes easy with the template provided, but creating links to other resources, including media files, is also straightforward. Our website is probably the most comprehensive and up-to-date resource that we have. As such, it is a critical information link. We are able to create announcements rapidly about upcoming events and activities using this web tool, allowing us to reach more people quickly.
Sokny Long, administrative specialist
Department of Work Environment
I like the fact that the CMS is easy to manage and use. The CMS helps me to easily link or add tables without learning any HTML codes. I was surprised at how easy it was to use. One benefit is that I am able to manage both the School of Health and Environment and Department of Work Environment sites and create tasks for both without needing to log in and log out under a different username or project; all I need to do is create a new task and change the template setting. Another great benefit is that the Web Support team is always there to assist with any questions, whether it is via email, the CMS message inbox, or just a simple phone call.
