Create new site in content management system (CMS)
1) A web content writer and a designer will be assigned to the project.
2) The web content writer will meet with you to gather general information and artwork.
3) If there is an existing site, it will be imported into the CMS.
4) Once the designer receives artwork, he can begin design of creative areas.
5) The web content writer will work with you to customize navigation, edit content and designate workflow.
6) Approval of Creative Areas.
7) Special applications are created by web application developers if needed.
8) When design and content are completed, the site will be deployed to a staging server for final review by you.
9) Any necessary changes are made by contacting your web content writer.
10) Once everything is approved, the site is deployed to the live server.
11) You will be trained to use the CMS -- to learn how to work within the workflow and also edit/add content.
This process can take a couple of weeks to several months depending on the complexity of the site.
Change artwork/graphics on a page
Contact Elaine Keough, who will determine whether artwork request is part of template design or part of content.
If it is part of content:
The designated department maintainer will be able to add images to content sections of the web site. See design guidelines for specifications of file size.If it is part of template design:
Due to the volume of sites being migrated to the content management system, the Web Team will be unable to revise template designs until all of the existing sites have been imported.
Review new site design
Occasionally, departments design their own sites or pay contractors to design sites. While Web Services does not recommend this solution during the migration to the content management system, we understand that some department’s have urgent needs. The department must use the design guidelines outlined by the Web Services site. The site is then reviewed by Web Services prior to launch.
