Introducing Summit Reporting
Printer Friendly
New to the campus, Summit provides users with a single reporting application to access data across multiple areas such as Finance and Human Resources. Data is displayed in table or graph formats in dashboards that track key performance indicators and provide updates such as actionable alerts. Dashboards use targeted data sets to answer your specific questions regarding status and performance in your organization.
The Lowell campus has collaborated with the UMass President’s office and other UMass campuses to develop this tool that will continue to evolve based on feedback from end users.
Summit is currently available for reporting views into Finance and Human Resource data, and a few academic Deans and Senior Administrators and support staff now have access to the Student Administration "Enrollment Management" dashboard. Efforts are also under way to add in reporting views for Advancement data.
About Finance Dashboards
Finance dashboards have been utilized by a number of campus users for the last year. Different finance dashboards are set up to target key groups such as academic and department administrators, facilities and researchers. Other dashboards address functions such as Transaction Detail Analysis and Fiscal Reporting.
Finance dashboard access has been rolled out to over 400 Lowell employees as part of the e*mpac Finance 9.1 upgrade project. Employees who previously accessed financial data with tools such as e*mpac Financials (PeopleSoft) or FAIR, now have access to this same data via appropriate dashboards in Summit. The FAIR reporting tool will not be supported after the e*mpac Finance 9.1 upgrade happening in mid-November.
In-person and online training has been provided to users, and additional training and support sessions will be scheduled in the future. More information can be found at http://empac.uml.edu.
About the Human Resource Dashboard
Department managers will soon get access to see a new Human Resource dashboard within Summit. This dashboard will provide users with information such as:
- Leave balances and utilization
- Completion dates of contracts and encumbrances Personnel data such as job code, title, department, salary
- Department transactions and payroll for each pay period
This dashboard will soon be rolled out to the appropriate managers.
Training will be offered later this year. The HR Direct webpage will provide information and online training.
About the Student Administration Dashboard
This dashboard provides users with information such as:
- Capacity Planning – Set of displays that provide information regarding classes offered, enrollment capacities, seat availability and waitlist sizes of classes scheduled in various terms. It also provides historical trends as to class offerings, including who is teaching/has taught the class.
- Admissions – Displays various views of information used in tracking the admission process of applicants for upcoming terms, while drawing comparisons with previous trends and measuring the quality of applicants, admitted students, deposit paid and enrolled students based on standardized test scores and high school/transfer GPA.
Other dashboards are being developed for use by the business offices as we prepare for the eventual retirement of Cognos. Additional pilot users will be introduced to Summit for Student Administration to provide feedback and direction to the Summit design team. As these dashboards mature the campus will look to extend access to more academic and administrative leaders.
