Xythos
Another new program currently available to faculty and staff members is Xythos, an online documentation-management system. This system is similar to that of a file share on a network. However, with Xythos, the file share is not contained within the network and can provide someone on the outside with access to the files and data. Eventually, as Xythos becomes more widespread, its file share functions could replace dropbox. Right now, certain departments, such as IT, are being used to pilot the program. The hope is that, over time, UMass Lowell’s license for Xythos, which is currently limited, will expand so more faculty and staff members can have access to it.
