Campus-Wide Software Licenses
Faculty and staff members have a range of products available to them all thanks to campus-wide software licenses offered through the IT department. These licenses are available for use on University owned computers, and many are also available for use on personal desktops and laptops, enabling work to be done on- and off- campus.
It is important to note that the licenses are strictly available to faculty/staff members only. With the exception of the McAfee Antivirus license, students are not eligible for these software licenses through UMass Lowell. Information about the licenses can be found at www.uml.edu/it, then select Faculty/Staff, and Software Licenses.

The Microsoft Campus Agreement allows faculty and staff members access to Microsoft Office programs both for university owned computers and personal systems. This license allows access to upgrades for Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office Professional for Windows and Macs, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Visual studio .NET, and MS Project.
SPSS is a statistical and analytic program often utilized in the social sciences. The SPSS Enterprise license is available only for Windows operating systems, and can only be installed on University owned machines.
Mathematica is a technical program that allows users to work on computations, modeling, simulation, visualization, development, documentation, and deployment. This license for Mathematica came from a collaborative effort by several departments working together to fund this campus-wide license. This software can be installed for use either on a university computer or on a personal system used at home.
MalwareBytes is a program that detects and removes malware, as well as helping users avoid websites that contain malware. UMass Lowell has a limited campus-wide software license for MalwareBytes available to only Faculty and Staff members for UMass Lowell computers. A product key for the software can be requested by emailing itsecurity@uml.edu from a UMass Lowell e-mail account. From there, MalwareBytes can be downloaded online at http://malwarebytes.org/.

McAfee AntiVirus is accessible for download to all faculty, and staff at UML. The Antivirus program is available free online for both the Windows and Mac operating systems. For McAfee AntiVirus, faculty, and staff do not need to obtain the program through the Help Center. Rather, it can be downloaded online via www.uml.edu/it. For Faculty/Staff Members, select Faculty/Staff, then Hardware/Software. From there, there will be a link to download McAfee Antivirus.
Computrace is essentially a LoJack system for a laptop. When the program is installed on a laptop, it will act as a tracking device if the laptop is stolen. Once reported stolen, if the laptop is logged on and the internet is accessed, Computrace will track the location of the laptop. The IT department is available to help faculty, staff, and students purchase a Computrace license, as well as help with the installation of the program.
For software that is not available for download online, faculty and staff members can obtain installation CDs from the Help Center in Olsen Hall room 107, located on North Campus. Faculty and staff members should be prepared to present their ID and will then receive a copy of the installation media, as well as a product license key. Once the product is installed, return the installation CDs within three business days to the Help Center in Olsen Hall.
Additional information on the software licenses can be found at www.uml.edu/it. Select Faculty/Staff, and Software Licenses.
