IT Policy and Planning Committee

As a component of the overall UMass Lowell strategic plan, the IT Policy and Planning Committee has developed the IT strategic Plan 2020, a ten-year visionary document. The Committee, formed in October 2009, has done an admirable job developing a document that outlines where the IT department would like to be by 2020.

The Strategic Plan was submitted by the Committee and accepted in February 2010. The Policy and Planning Committee will be re-examined in the coming months as the need for this steering committee transitions from just focusing on planning to becoming an ongoing advisory and steering committee.

Come early Fall 2010, the new advisory committee will be created. The new committee will explore and examine various organizational options, such as the possibility of forming smaller subgroups. This new structure will allow for more flexibility, more frequent meetings, and a wider knowledge base to best examine the different technology and user needs in various areas. The goal of this organization and committee is to take the IT Strategic Plan 2020 and provide more recommendations and feedback on specific goals for the next one to three years, moving closer to the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan.

Questions and suggestions on the Committee and the formation of these groups can be directed to Rich Zera, CIO, at x2654 or Richard_Zera@uml.edu.
