UMass Lowell owns campus-wide licenses for the following products:
- Microsoft Office* (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Microsoft Visio Professional
- Microsoft Visual Studio.NET
- McAfee Antivirus
- SPSS
- Mathematica
*The Microsoft License Agreement does not include MS Project.

The Hardware and Software Committee at UML funded a campus wide license for Microsoft client side applications for faculty and staff. Products covered under this license include upgrades to Windows NT, 2000 or XP, Office Professional for Windows and MACS, FrontPage, Visio Professional and Visual Studio .NET. This software may be installed on any machine that is owned by the campus or any home system owned by faculty and staff. Should you need the installation CDs, visit the Help Desk in Olsen Hall, First Floor, North Campus and be prepared to show your Faculty/Staff ID.
NOTE: Installing this product on any non staff or non faculty system can put the campus in a possible position of litigation.
The Hardware and Software Committee at UML funded a campus-wide license for this product for faculty and staff for both a Windows and MAC environment. Although the software has been configured and customized for your UMass Lowell PC/laptop, it is available for home-use as well.
Once you have copied the self-extracting file to your desktop and double-clicked to begin the installation, wait until you see the dialog box informing you the installation is complete and a reboot is required.
Download 8.5i for Windows Vista, XP, 2000, NT
*This version is required for Windows Vista users. User must enter their UML email address and password to initiate the download and installation.

*This version requires Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.6 or later) or Mac OS X Leopard (10.5 or later). User must enter their UML email address and password to initiate the download and installation. Double-click the Virex package icon to start the Installer.

*This version requires Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.x or later). User must enter their UML email address and password to initiate the download and installation. Double-click the Virex package icon to start the Installer.

*This version will run on all OS X versions up to 10.3.x. User must enter their UML email address and password to initiate the download and installation. Double-click the Virex package icon to start the Installer.
SPSS Enterprise License
The Hardware and Software Committee at UML funded a campus wide license for this product in FY06 which runs in the Windows environment. This software may be installed on any machine that is owned by the campus. Should you need the installation CDs visit the Help Desk in Olsen Hall, First Floor, North Campus and provide your name along with your Faculty/Staff ID, office location, service tag number (7 alphanumeric characters) of the machine you are installing the product on. If it is determined the service tag number provided is for a machine owned by the campus, the Help Desk will send you a copy of the installation media, manuals on CD, installation documentation and the perpetual licensed authorization code.
NOTE: This license runs on Windows clients only and does not cover any personally owned machine. Installing this product on a personally owned machine puts the campus in a possible position of litigation.
Mathematica
The Hardware and Software Committee worked with several departments to fund this campus wide license in FY06 which runs in the Windows, Linux and MAC environments. This software may be installed on any machine owned by the campus and also includes home use for faculty and staff. Should you need the installation CD visit the Help Desk in Olsen Hall, First Floor and provide your name along with your Faculty/Staff ID, office location, service tag number (7 alphanumeric characters) of the machine you are installing this product on and whether the machine is a Windows or MAC or Linux client. If it is determined the service tag number provided is for a machine owned by the campus, the Help Desk will send a copy of the installation CD and the license authorization code.
