PortalIntroduction Like other universities, UMass faces the challenge of connecting a broad range of users with a variety of independent systems. Online portals provide a unified and personalized access to systems and information to the many different constituent groups across our University.
Current Status The UMass System is deferring work on the creation of a system wide portal until after a full Identity Management (IdM) solution is in place.
History and Documents Although the Portal initiative has been deferred, the following documents and presentations have been collected for the campus to view.
2010: Identity Management has been introduced to support Human Resources, Financials, and Effort Certification. Plans are underway to add iSiS logins as part of IdM.
2007: Extensive focus was placed on the Identity Management (IdM) tools which are seen as a critical component of any future portal initiative.
2006: A new Portal Workgroup was established to discuss issues relevant to a portal implementation. Workgroup Charter Portal Pilot - Scope Document 2005: Due to other project priorities and funding, the Portal Project was dormant.
2004: There were five constituent workgroup sessions conducted which focused on different populations within the campus: Students; Faculty & Research; Administration & Staff; Alumni & Institutional Advancement; and Admissions & Recruiting. The findings of this 'discovery phase' were sent to President Wilson.
