General Summary of Position
We seek an individual with an active research agenda in the field of educational policy at the PK-12 level for a position in Leadership in Schooling. The successful candidate should be able to teach in at least one of the following areas: school law, school finance, or educational reform policy.
The University of Massachusetts Lowell is situated 25 miles north of Boston in the city of Lowell, home of the Lowell National Historical Park. The Graduate School of Education is NCATE accredited and noted for its strength in post baccalaureate teacher preparation, masters degree programs for experienced educators on campus and online, and doctoral programs in leadership in schooling, language arts and literacy, and math and science education. We value a diverse faculty in order to enhance the academic experience for students and better reflect the communities we serve. Working in close partnership with PK-12 schools in the region, the Graduate School of Education is dedicated to transforming and improving the quality of education for students of all ages.
Anticipated starting date of September 1st, 2008. Appointments are subject to funding.
Initial review of applications begins December 1, 2007.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Doctorate in a relevant field, or receipt of the degree by May 2008.
• Demonstrated ability teaching at the graduate level.
• Leadership experience in a PK-12 setting.
• Commitment to develop and sustain an externally funded research program.
• Demonstrated potential for publications in scholarly journals.
• Demonstrated ability working with diverse student and faculty population.
• Candidates seeking the rank of associate or full professor must also have a record of grant-funded research, a substantial publication record and should have participated in doctoral dissertation committees, preferably as chair.
