Description:

General Summary (Purpose) of Position
The Alcohol & other Drug Coordinator/Clinician/Case Manager coordinates and provides remedial services for students who have violated university alcohol/drug policy including those students transported to the hospital for treatment.  Also includes tracking and maintaining contact with students who evidence difficulty with alcohol/other drug usage. 

This is a part-time, 18hrs/week, non-benefited position for 37 weeks, beginning the last week of August. $30-35/hr depending on experience.

Examples of Duties:
1. Provide students with counseling  and support services by:
• Providing mandated assessments as needed to meet student conduct or residential life sanctions.
• Providing regular follow-up counseling with students to address their substance use.
• Arranging for off site referrals as needed to provide more effective interventions for students whose substance use goes beyond a counseling center’s expertise.
• Facilitating group seminar meetings in the residence halls an evening a week to educate students regarding substances.
• Networking with other departments within the university to ensure visibility and referrals.
• Working with the Students at Risk Committee (STAR) providing follow-up services and insuring student compliance with appropriate interventions.
• Contacting external agencies as needed.

2. Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
• Facilitating meetings with parents and students to effectively address student concerns raised by the STAR group.
• Providing general consultation with University personnel around substance abuse issues.
• Building effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
• Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
• Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s degree in a mental health field (e.g. social work, counseling etc) required. 
• 3 to 5 years experience in substance abuse and case management.
• Demonstrated experience in therapy for individuals with substance issues.
• Previous experience in a college setting preferred.
• Ability to work one evening a week.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• A job offer for this position is contingent upon a satisfactory response to a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and review.

Supervision Received: Reports to Director of Counseling
