UMass Lowell Human Resources will be producing some documented business policies regarding use of the HR Direct application. These policies will define roles and responsibilities, procedures for proper record keeping, and appropriate use of data.
A few of the more significant polices under development are cited below:
|
Policy |
Summary of Status |
| Employee Self- Service Reporting | This will define the roles and responsibilities for employees and managers to accurately report and authorize payroll. In Development |
| Manager Delegation of Approving Responsibilities | The only supported delegation for approving time is to have higher-level managers do the approving. Delegation to a member of your staff is not possible. There are ongoing discussions with the President's Office and State Controller to explore options to alter the approving process as there are State and University policies that govern this. Until such time, the responsibility to approve time remains with the manager. In Development |
| Compensatory Time Tracking |
Employees working authorized hours beyond their work schedules may be entitled to compensatory time. This policy (or policies) will define the rules for use by each respective union and will complement existing union contract language. |
If you have any feedback on these policies or ideas for others, please share it with us via our Feedback survey.
