Description
The Honors Scholarship Fund, sustained through donations from the University community, is an endowed fund for providing merit-based awards to students enrolled in the Honors Program. Scholarships are conferred each spring by the Honors Endowment Committee. The number of awards and the amount of each award will be determined by available funds and by the quality of the applications. A scholarship will be awarded to at least one member of each undergraduate class, and up to two scholarships will be awarded to incoming students, both freshmen and transfer students.
Eligible students wishing to apply for an Honors Fellows Scholarship should submit the following items to the Honors Program,
- An honors fellows scholarship application form for current (pdf) or entering (pdf) students;
- An essay describing their service and leadership activities and stating what they expect to get from and bring to the Honors Program; and
- A letter of recommendation, preferably from a faculty member who can attest to their academic potential.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship winners will be chosen on the basis of their:
- Essay and letter of recommendation,
- Service and leadership activities,
- GPA for transfer students, or SAT scores and class rank for students entering from high school, and
- Research activities (if any), including presentations at conferences.
