• Individualized instruction in small groups, often in seminar format;

• Opportunities for undergraduate research;

• Special "Commonwealth Honors Program Scholar" designation on transcripts and diplomas - upon completion of program requirements;

• Opportunity to live on one of the Honors floors in the residence halls;

Special Features of the Honors Program

Scholarship Opportunities: The Honors Endowment Fund provides a limited number of merit based financial awards to students in the Honors Program. More information and application forms are available online (for current UML students and entering students) or from the Honors Program office (Southwick 320, North Campus).

Senior Research Grants: The Honors Program offers grants of up to $500 for materials and/or activities related to a student's senior project or thesis.

Mission Statement

The mission of the UML Honors Program is to provide enriched academic opportunities to meet the educational needs of exceptionally talented students and to foster the pursuit of scholarly excellence in undergraduate higher education.

The Honors Program seeks to promote the development and professional growth of motivated students by engaging them in activities designed to enhance their critical, cognitive, and creative potential and by fostering interactions with committed faculty.

The Honors Program at The University of Massachusetts Lowell offers a special opportunity -- and challenge -- to the highly motivated, dedicated, talented student. Participating students are challenged to perform at the highest level of which they are capable and are offered an environment that encourages high aspiration and achievement.
