
Honors Program: Alpha Lambda Delta
The University of Massachusetts Lowell chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes and honors academic excellence during a student’s first year of college. Each spring semester, all undergraduate day students in the first year who have achieved a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher will be invited to become a member.
Business Administration: Beta Gamma Sigma
Encourages and rewards scholarly accomplishment, promotes the advancement of education in business, and fosters integrity in the conduct of business activities.
Chemical Engineering: Omega Chi Epsilon
Promotes high scholarship, encourages original investigation in chemical engineering, and recognizes the traits of character, integrity and leadership. Activities include career guidance to high school students and tutorial services to chemical engineering students. Advisor: Prof. Alfred Donatelli, ext. 3156
Civil Engineering: Chi Epsilon
Maintains and promotes the honorable characteristics of integrity, ethics and practicality in the civil engineer. This organization is restricted to civil engineering students who are then selected based upon GPA. Advisor: Prof. Frank Alberti, ext. 2285
Earth Science: Sigma Gamma Epsilon
Membership requirements include 12 or more credits in earth science with a GPA of 3.0 or greater and an overall GPA of 2.67 or better. Advisor: Dr. Nelson Eby, ext. 3907
Electrical Engineering: Eta Kappa Nu
Recognizes those students who have shown outstanding achievement in the electrical engineering curriculum. Advisor: Prof. John Leonard, ext. 3336
National Honor Society for First Year Students: Alpha Lambda Delta
Recognizes and promotes academic excellence during a student's first year of college. Strives to encourage and support high academic achievement among all students. Open to freshmen who earn a 3.5 GPA after their first semester or year of full-time study. Advisor: Kristen Rhyner, ext. 2920
Mathematics: Pi Mu Epsilon
Excellence in mathematics and excellence in general college work are membership requirements.
Mechanical Engineering: Pi Tau Sigma
Consists of a group of mechanical engineering honor students who assist the Mechanical Engineering Department as needed. New members are recruited by letter from the top one-third of the mechanical engineering students. Activities include contributing to a tutoring program, social activities and assisting faculty. Physics: Sigma Pi Sigma, National Physics Honor Society
membership requires a 3.0 GPA in physics.
