Purpose
The University of Massachusetts Lowell chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta recognizes and honors academic excellence during a student’s first year of college. Each spring semester, all undergraduate day students in the first year who have achieved a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher will be invited to become a member.
The chapter strives to encourage and support high academic achievement among all students at UMass Lowell.
Structure
The UMass Lowell chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) consists of students and alumni who have a commitment to quality education and the development of their leadership potential. Chapter officers and a junior and senior advisor work together as a team to provide leadership to the chapter.
Benefits
Qualified students are automatically eligible to join as a lifetime member in the national honor society.
The local chapter offers:
- Scholarship awards
- An initiation banquet dinner
- Community service projects
- Support Services and the Honors Program
The national chapter offers:
- National scholarships to previously inducted sophomore ALD members
- Fellowships to members for graduate study
- Awards to undergraduate students and outstanding chapters
- Lifetime membership
- Participation in an annual leadership workshop
