About Graduate Study at UMass LowellThe University of Massachusetts Lowell is an active research institution dedicated to both undergraduate and graduate education. Building on its 100-year tradition of academic excellence, UMass Lowell offers more than 50 graduate certificates, 32 masters and 15 doctoral degrees through five colleges: Arts and Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health & Environment and Management. There are more than 100 graduate areas of study. Lowell is one of five campuses that make up the University of Massachusetts system.
Every program for which accreditation exists is accredited by the most prestigious organization in its field.
UMass Lowell currently enrolls about 2,400 graduate students. More than 30 percent of the UMass Lowell degrees awarded annually go to students earning graduate degrees. This is one of the highest percentages among schools in the Northeast.
Graduate courses are offered on campus, online and at off-campus sites. Most classes are held in the late afternoon and early evening.

- Research: The research program and University facilities support the work of students in graduate programs. UMass Lowell is an active research institution, providing students with a wide array of projects in which to participate.
- Libraries: In addition to housing extensive collections, UMass Lowell’s two libraries provide electronic access to more than 300 databases, more than 28,000 journals and ninety computer workstations. Remote computer access is available for all students both on and off campus.

Computer and Email: Every student is issued computer and email accounts by the University. There are multimedia labs and distance learning classrooms across the campus. UML makes hundreds of workstations, PCs, and terminals available to students, all connected to multiple servers via a state-of-the-art network structure. The campus is completely wireless.

Graduate Student Association: Our Graduate Student Association and international student clubs offer a calendar of social and cultural events. The organization also allocates funding for dissertation research and for travel to research conferences.
