Additional Items Required for International Applicants
In addition to the application materials required for all graduate applicants, international students are required to submit the following:

Test Score Report of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):
All international applicants are required to submit results of the TOEFL exam except citizens of Australia, Canada (except Quebec), United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, Guyana and English Speaking countries of Africa and West Indies.

Please see information about standardized tests for contact information.

NOTE: If you have adequate facility with English, you may apply for a waiver of the TOEFL requirement at the International Students and Scholars Office.

The TOEFL requirement can be waived if an applicant can demonstrate that they have completed at least two academic semesters of full time college/university study in the USA by the date of submission of the application.  Please email: Graduate_Admissions@uml.edu and request in writing.

Declaration of Finance
If accepted to a degree program, applicants must file a Declaration of Finance Form, which will be sent to you before an I-20 can be issued.

If you have official proof of finances (from your own or your sponsor's financial institution), you can submit it along with the $140 International Student fee and a brief letter accepting your acceptance now to expedite your I-20. Once these items are received and processed, we will forward your I-20 to you.

If you have a relative or friend in the area, you may want to arrange for them to act as your designee in these matters. Please send us a signed authorization letter via fax at 978-934-3022.

NOTE: The University requires a notarized letter of support from your sponsor and a proof of financial solvency from the sponsor's bank, lawyer or financial manager. These documents are also accepted as adequate and proper financial proof by the U.S. embassies and consulates.

Additional information for international students is available at the International Students and Scholars Office.
