Workshop Opportunities

Here are some examples of workshops you will participate in during the Parent, Family & Friends Orientation!
Campus Life
A panel discussion will be moderated by the Dean of Students and will include input from the Counseling Center, Health Services, University Police, Residence Life, and the Office of Multicultural Affairs. A balanced college experience involves opportunities for students to meet new people, handle responsibilities, learn leadership skills and enjoy recreational, social, and cultural activities. By taking advantage of these opportunities, students have fun and gain experience that will help prepare them for lifelong success. Each office will highlight important aspects of their program. You will learn about the kinds of direct support offered, campus programming, services for commuting students and multiple opportunities for involvement in student organizations.
Student Responsibility
This session will provide a humorous and detailed overview of the Residence Life and University Judicial Processes. Information will be provided on how to prepare your students to make good decisions and accept adult responsibilities. Hopefully, this session will help you help your student avoid meeting University administrators under these circumstances.
CLASS
This session is presented by the Director of the Centers for Learning and Academic Support Services (CLASS). The Centers for Learning provides a broad range of academic support services that enable faculty and students to excel in teaching and learning. CLASS has four components: tutoring, the Advising Center, Freshmen Program and Educational Computing. Staff will explain how each area can supplement a student's learning abilities and will answer any questions you have.
