Smart Start Orientation

Brenna Cobleigh

Brenna
Brenna is a second-year Orientation Leader.  She is a member of the class of 2011 as a Biology/Pre-Med major from Littleton, MA.  In addition to Orientation, Brenna loves various activities outdoors!

Why did you choose to come to UMass Lowell?
I chose to come to UMass Lowell because of some friends' experiences and what I witnessed of their experiences.  Students here seemed happier and to be having a better college experience than at my previous college.

Describe your UMass Lowell experience:
I've been here for a semester now and I absolutely love the atmosphere and the college.  I didn't know what to expect coming in midway through my college career, but this is better than what I had hoped for.  The people are nice and peers are always willing to help.  It's nice to have teachers that are available and a tutoring center for extra help.

Why did you decide to become an Orientation Leader?
I became an Orientation Leader because I remember back to when I was an Orientee and I had the best time at Orientation.  I want to be able to give all the incoming students the same experience I had and let them know that college isn't a scary place and there are other people like them that are feeling the same way.  Also, as an Orientation Leader, I get to give my personal experience as a college student and reinsure incoming students that they're going to enjoy their college life and career.  It's a good feeling being a guide for someone when they have such a difficult decision to make.
