Allan Jussaume

Allan Jussaume
Allan is a second-year Orientation Leader. He is a member of the class of 2010 from Lowell, MA, as an Arts-Writing and Legal Studies major. In addition to his first year as an O.L., Allan is also very involved on campus! He works in the Residence Life department, is a part of the Campus Activities Programming Association (CAPA), the "Connector" (the student newspaper), and enjoys running, cycling, fine cuisine and baking, weightlifting, reading, day trips and spending time with loved ones!

Why did you choose to come to UMass Lowell?
Coming from a large family, it was important for me to find a school that would not put me or my family in a difficult financial situation during my education.  I also wanted to be close to my family while attending college.  I chose to come to UMass Lowell because it offered a quality education at an affordable price in the city I know and love.

Describe your UMass Lowell experience:
I have been heavily involved with many of the clubs and activities on campus during my three years at UMass Lowell.  However, I never had the opportunity to enjoy the full freedom of campus life or build strong relationships with my peers until I started living on campus.  I was a commuter my first two years at the University, but wanted more out of my personal college experience.  I applied for a position as a Resident Advisor, which allowed me to embrace my skills as a leader, grow as an individual, and finally gain independence by moving out of my house.  My job with Residence Life helped me create the world in which I wanted to live.
The ability to find your own path is what makes UMass Lowell so great.  The University helped foster my life's path.  The people I have met are colors to the creative palate that paint the permanent portrait of this school.  We, as students, are the individual brushstrokes that collectively create a lasting legacy.

Why did you decide to become an Orientation Leader?
Orientation is about helping students find their way and adapt to the college lifestyle.  I love to network, and I'm a specialist when it comes to guidance and information.  I am a tell-all individual; if you need to know something about the University, I probably know it.  Incoming students need fostering attention in order to start their collegiate career in the right direction  Who better than a fun-loving, boisterous, know-it-all to show them the way?!  I am an Orientation Leader because I love people and because I love UMass Lowell!
