Teaching ResourcesThe integration of teaching, research and service requires collaboration among many partners who have excellence in teaching at the core of their missions. The following are useful resources to help promote excellence in teaching:
Teaching with Online Tools: Blackboard (formerly WebCT) Faculty Web Pages: Information Technology: Personal Response System (PRS)/Clickers: To combat clicker proliferation and simplify faculty technical and pedagogical support, Interwrite PRS RF was chosen after many months of assessment and faculty input. Clickers are being used extensively to evaluate student mastery of content and to identify concepts that are proving difficult for students to grasp. Find out more about Clickers on the Clickers Wiki. Developing Richer Learning Environments through UML's Classroom Integrated Technology: If you need training or information, please contact Donna Mellen. This institute is an introduction for some, or a welcomed ‘refresher’ for others using the newest technology available in some UML classrooms. Faculty who attend this institute will hear an overview of the latest hardware installed in the Technology Enhanced Classrooms, including, but not limited to the control system, projector, permanent audio system, DVD/VCR player, laptop connection, digital document camera, and the personal computer. Advanced features of the document camera will be demonstrated and will highlight the enormous advantages versus using an overhead projector. The basic features of the Sympodium Interactive Display and clickers at UMASS Lowell may also be included. Faculty will have an opportunity to have hands-on practice an take away learning that can be immediately applicable to Fall 2009 classes. [Note: This institute was formerly entitled Getting Wired! Using SMART Technology Installed in North and South Campus Classrooms] | |
