Spring 2012 Research Colloquium Series
- Don't miss the FOSTER CARE AWARENESS DAY event, which will be hosted on campus on Wednesday, May 2. The event will be held in O'Leary 222 on South Campus from 1 to 3 p.m. Several speakers will be talking about "Success after Foster Care." Students and faculty are encouraged to attend. See the Foster Care Awareness Flyer (pdf) for more information.
- The annual departmental Recognition Ceremony is planned for Tuesday, April 24, in the Junior Ballroom at UMass Lowell's Inn and Conference Center. Refreshments will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. Congratulations to our graduates and award recipients! Parking will be validated.
- The annual induction ceremony for Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology, will be held on April 11 in O'Leary Library, Room 222, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. Congratulations to students who are being inducted this year!
- Congratulations are extended to Dr. Joan Cannon, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, who was recently selected to serve as the 2011-2012 Faculty Consultant and Reviewer for Psi Chi, the International Society in Psychology, for the awards and grants competitions. These include, among others, the Allyn & Bacon Awards, the Graduate Research Grants, the Guilford Awards and the Undergraduate Research Grants.
- Congratulations are also extended to Dr. Andy Hostetler, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, who was just elected to serve on the the American Psychological Association's Council of Education Programs for the Society for Community Research & Action (SCRA). Dr. Hostetler also serves on the SCRA’s Task Group on Competencies for Practice.
Spring 2012 Research Colloquium Series
All Research Colloquia will be held in O'Leary Library Media Center, Room 222 unless otherwise noted. The Research Colloquia page on this website contains videos of colloquia from previous semesters.
- March 7, 2012, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. "Evaluating a physical exercise program for adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum." The colloquium will be presented by Dr. Ashleigh Hillier, Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
- March 21, 2012, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. "Lowell immigrant communities in the time of deportations." The colloquium will be presented by Dr. Jana Sladkova, Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
- April 4, 2012, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. "Improving Important Life Skills of Individuals Diagnosed With and Without a Disability." The colloquium will be presented by Dr. Lauren Beaulieu, Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology, University of Massachusetts Lowell.
