Private instruction is essential, and it is expected that students will spend extensive time in preparation for the audition. Original compositions are not appropriate for an entrance audition. Applicants for all music degree programs must successfully audition on their instrument to be accepted into the Department of Music. On audition day, applicants should bring a copy of the audition pieces to be performed.

Jazz Bass, Electric, Acoustic

Applicants who wish to study jazz bass (electric or acoustic) will be expected to have prepared a minimum of the following materials.  Please read eveything in the entrance audition requirements (PDF) file AND:

Be sure to perform the pieces in the appropriate tempos and rhythmic styles.
