New England Youth Wind Ensemble***ENROLLMENT WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL JANUARY 23*** Senior Ensemble Concert - Tuesday May 8, 2012
The UMass Lowell New England Youth Wind Ensemble brings together 60 students from the community with college students from the UMass Lowell Department of Music. This is an Honor's Band environment. If you have had the opportunity to perform in junior district, districts, or the like, this is for you!
This type of wind ensemble provides a unique opportunity for all students. With only one individual per part, students learn to listen, interpret and perform across instrumental families, and to perform with soloists. Each musician is challenged with significant responsibilities. The New England Youth Wind Ensemble is open to all New England high school students in grades 9-12. The ensemble meets on Monday evenings from 6:45 to 9 p.m. in the Durgin Concert Hall at UMass Lowell. Auditions take place in January (Tuesday January 10 and Thursday January 12 from 3 to 8 p.m.). Other arrangements may be made as necessary. The ensemble begins at the end of January and rehearses through April, with an evening concert May 8, at 7:30 p.m. For more information contact Director Deb Huber at 978-934-4133. Rehearsal Schedule Mondays: 6:45 to 9 p.m. January 23 - May 7 On May 8 students should arrive at 6:15 p.m., set up and tune.
